A band from Italy which was featured on "Crushing Intolerance (vol.2)". One of the editors of The Dark Skies Above Us - who is, obviously, a supporter of my blog and RABM in general - plays there. Their music can best be defined as a kind of blackened punk/hardcore/screamo, I think. While screamo in general isn't my thing, this release might be of interest for a lot of my readers.

Continuing with grindcore/crust, here's a band from Germany with a very well produced debut EP which will fit into my blog quite well. The band members are from Bremen and strongly support local DIY initiatives. "Artifacts Of Humanity" EP, initially released in 2013, was recently re-released on tape by the Indonesian label Playloud Records. The recording and all artworks were done completely by the band themselves.

Screaming Art Terrorizing Apathetic Nothingness (S.A.T.A.N) are a band from southeastern Poland which exists for more than 9 years by now, but their full discography became available online not so long ago. I'd define their genre as grindcore. Other people call it screamo, powerviolence, black metal, etc., but the band members themselves prefer to call it just "extreme punk". I think thy're pretty suitable for my blog, both musically and lyrically. Here's their debut release, the rest of their discography (short EPs mostly) is available on bandcamp as well.

Kronstadt - demo (2015)

KRONSTADT "Demo"

Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Oči partyzánů
  2. Bratrstvo sibenic
  3. Pohrebni hranice pro umirajici svet

A band with such a name just can't be bad, right? Jokes aside, this demo indeed isn't bad. The band is from Czech republic (Uherský Brod), and at least one of their members is a fan of my blog. According to him:

"Some of our members are participants of Czech Anarchist movement, the rest are at least sympathetic. Our band agenda is 100% supportive towards antifascism, squatting, diy and such topics. And we of course want to spread our music towards equally or similarly thinking people"

The cover image is a photo of a memorial for victims of nazi occupation in Ostrava. The English translations of all their lyrics are available here.

Line-up:

Robin Flowers: Guitar
Alex Freilich: Drums, Bass, Synthesizer, Piano, Vocals
Neal Jensen: Guitar, Organ, Vocals

There still is a lot of releases arriving into my mailbox every week, but a lot of them either have nothing to do with the topic of my blog, or simply lack the information needed to post them. This one, though, is really interesting, and comes from a band what was featured on my blog before.

Hellships, founded in 2009, are from Olymplia, WA. Their music is a kind of mostly instrumental noisy psychedelic doom metal, heavily influenced by the Cascadian black metal scene. Although their music and imagery isn't explicitly political, they're all anarchists. Additionally, one of their members also plays in With The End In Mind, if I'm not mistaken.

Frostland Tales - "Obrazy" (2015)

FROSTLAND TALES "Obrazy"

Year: 2015
Genre: DSBM, Dark Ambient
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Les za svitu plamene (Rozjímání)
  2. Hvězdná obloha (Procitnutí)
DOWNLOAD

Just as announced, this is the last release from Frostland Tales, consisting of only two short tracks. The track names mean "A forest in the light of flame (Meditation)" and "Starry sky (The awakening)" respectively. The cover image doesn't have any special meaning, it's just a photo made when he was in northern Italy. As for the music, it's very minimalistic. The author himself calls it "dark guitar-ambient", but feel free to call it however you want.

And the most disturbing part about this release - the author says that he's going to commit suicide by the end of this month, and the note is already written. It's the first time during the whole existence of my blog when a someone tells me about his suicide plans, so I really don't know how to react. I have no idea if he really intends to do it (or maybe already did), but if it's true... okay, it's his choice. Who am I to judge him and his decisions, anyway?..

The members of Morgon have sent me this full-length album which I overlooked back in 2012. Since the release of Morgon's first demos their style has shifted from raw black metal to death metal, which some people didn't like, yet the band remains to be DIY and anarchist.

FATAL - "O Zvěrstvech" (2015)

FATAL "O Zvěrstvech"

Year: 2015
Genre: Crustgrind
Country: Czech Republic

Track List:
  1. Intro
  2. Konec
  3. Konvoj
  4. Deceiver (Napalm Death cover)
DOWNLOAD

A short and raw crust/grind from Pete, a member of one of the Czech bands which previously was featured on this blog, released on 30th of March. The title means "About the Atrocities", and all the lyrics with English translations are available in the archive. Specifically, "Konec" ("The End") is a song about how the humanity consumes itself, and "Konvoj" is about the NATO military convoy that recently passed through the Czech Republic, and generally about the big countries' lust for war. "Deceiver" is a cover of Napalm Death song (original "Scum" version without that Repulsion intro).

P.S. More news from the Czech Republic, this time it's bad. The project Frostland Tales: "I'm dead, bye". Some people wanted to see FT live, but its founder doesn't think if it'd ever be possible to get the rest of the members to play a live gig...

Nest - S/T (2015)

NEST "Nest"

Year:  2015
Genre:  Blackened Doom
Country: USA

Track List:
  1. The Inexplicable Conclusion of Life
  2. Wretched World
  3. The Earth is a Nest
  4. The Womb is Barren in a Feral Light
  5. To Carry a Burning Body
Nest is a new project from Lexington, KY in the United States.  The lyrics are clearing anti-civilization and misanthropic, making it a good fit here.  The five tracks are decent black metal sounding music, but at a doomy pace.  Overall, this is pretty solid for a debut EP.  Head over to their Bandcamp to check it out for yourself.  Nest is also available to download free there.
